Engine doesn't have to run, that's just what Nissan recommend in the instructions. Tbh I did mine without running the engine or a trickle charger and had no problems but it depends on the health of your battery I imagine It doesn't have to be done all in one go, after a disc has Installed it will request the next and continue to do so, it won't lose the installed disc if you need to switch off and back on Eg. I know people who have installed disc 1 and left it days before having time to install disc 2. Engine doesn't have to run, that's just what Nissan recommend in the instructions.

Hi Ouro, Retrofitting a sat nav is pretty straight forward. I tend to find that if you lick the back of the suction cup which TomTom provide it sticks better!
Sorry to sound like a ****. But I'm of the opinion that a TomTom would be the way forward if you don't have a Nav. I know they look better when they are in the dash, but a TomTom will be updated more offer and for less money. 2 chainz based on a tru story album download zip. And even on the 370 premium connect I don't think the nav is anywhere near the old TomTom 720 I had in my old car! It misses a lot of features IMO.
Hope this helps, Andy. The future of oem supplied SatNavs has to be in doubt for a couple of reasons, not least of which is the cost of updates from car companies. I see VW has announced the next Polo will have a screen that will take input from iOS devices, meaning you can run your smartphone satnav app and have it displayed in the built-in screen. What with that and the more sophisticated apps that get real-time updates in traffic, safety cameras, etc this has to be the way to go. I also have a Pioneer Appradio in my car and have my iphone connected to it.
The problem I had, was that although TomTom was available on the iOS, for what ever reason it wasn't licenced/supported by Pioneer and so could not be used. I think there would be a future in OEM installing tablet devices similar to android tablets, that allow the user to customise his in car needs.
So for instance I could buy and install apps for navigation, music and radio based on my preferences. The tablet I have installed is a 16gb Nook Hd along with a 32gb sd card, blue tooth sat nav receiver and a blue tooth ODB II. I can now run virtually anything I want. The ODB II is particularly useful when run with Dash Commander, as I can monitor engine parameters as well as diagnose fault codes.
