Below is a list of some manufacturers we carry and the information we typically need to identify component parts. Chrysler Inboard & I/O - Chrysler inboard & I/O engines usually require the engine model/cubic inches, year and/or serial number in order to indentify parts. The engine model and serial number are usually found on an identification plate located on top or at the rear of the engine. Chrysler/Force Outboards - The engine model and/or engine serial numbers are key to locating parts for Chrysler and Force outboard motors. This information can be found on a riveted tag on the starboard side of the transom bracket (on the outside of the boat).
The serial number will either be 8-digits beginning with a 0 or 1, followed by a letter and six numbers, OR it will be the horsepower of the motor followed by a series of letters and numbers. Crusader - Crusader engines usually require the engine model and engine serial number to identify parts. This info is usually found on an identification plate located on the engine block, valve cover, or flywheel housing. Indmar – The engine serial number is need to located parts on Indmar marine engines. On older engines, the serial number can be found stamped into the block by the bottom mount starter.
On newer engines, the serial number is located on various stickers including on the valve cover, ECM, and the raw water pump. The serial number is also found stamped into the block on newer engines as well. Johnson & Evinrude - Johnson & Evinrude outboard motors usually require the engine model number in order to identify the proper replacement parts. The engine year and horsepower also help verify the items needed, though the engine model number will automatically direct us to the engine year and model. The engine model number is found on the transom clamp of the outboard on the outside of the transom/boat. The model number usually starts with a letter, followed by numbers (often the horsepower) and finally another sequence of letters. Mercruiser - Depending on the parts requested, either the engine serial number, transom serial number, or drive serial number is needed to look up parts for Mercruiser engines, transoms, and drives.
The engine and drive models (Alpha, Alpha Gen II, Bravo, etc.) also help in identifying many fast moving items, although serial numbers are required in most instances for us to assure the correct parts for your application. Mercury/Mariner - The engine model and engine serial numbers are key to locating parts for Mercury and Mariner outboard motors. This information can be found on a riveted tag on the starboard side of the transom bracket (on the outside of the boat).
The serial number will usually start with a 0 or 1, followed by a letter, then followed by 6 numbers. OMC - OMC I/O engines require the model number of the engine. The model identification plate can be found on the engine valve cover. The model number usually starts with 3 numbers followed by a sequence of letters. Sometimes the engine size (liters) and year of the engine can be used to identify replacement parts. For looking up OMC sterndrive parts, the identification plate is located on the port side of the sterndrive just above the cavitation plate. Onan - To identify the correct parts for your Onan generator, the generator model number and spec letter are needed.
Sometimes the generator serial number will be needed. This information is located on a nameplate on the generator itself.
