Dodge Cummins Engine Manual
I had a '89, and the service manual was in two books. One was the basic Dodge gas engine truck manual, and the 2nd was a diesel supplement. It had all the Cummins stuff in it.
2010-2018 6.7L Dodge Cummins G56 Manual Transmission Since mid-model year 2005, Cummins equipped Rams sporting a manual transmission have been equipped with a G56 six speed. The G56 has proven to afford a smooth, quiet operation in comparison to its predecessor, the NV5600. A great deal of this smooth operation has come due to the dual mass flywheel of the G56, as compared to the solid, one piece flywheel of most traditional clutches. Unfortunately, while the dual mass flywheel delivers a smooth operation, it has delivered lack luster reliability, especially when the truck is subjected to heavy hauling and / or horsepower levels above stock. In order to alleviate the failure issues of the G56, the majority of aftermarket clutch manufacturers convert the transmission back to a proven, reliable, one piece, solid flywheel. We offer clutch kits from the best in the industry, South Bend and Valair.

For those at relatively stock power levels and do not overload the truck, both companies offer single disc, organic faced replacement clutches that are a great alternative to the factory dual mass unit. At the other end of the spectrum, if you've drastically increased the power of the engine, and even use it for sled pulling or drag racing, we also offer SFI Approved dual and triple disc clutches. For the majority of people that drive their truck on a routine basis, and have made slight to moderate modifications to increase horsepower, we've found that one of Valair's or South Bend's street-style dual disc clutches is the best option.
Because of the inner workings of the G56, once converted to a solid flywheel, a single disc does not have as much throw and holding power as what a dual disc can afford. Both companies have built lighter weighted pressure plates to accommodate the use of a dual disc as a daily driven and / or tow vehicle. With all clutch upgrades for the G56, you must also upgrade your hydraulics, and most of the clutch kits we offer, this is included. As always, if you have questions about what clutch is right for you and your particular truck, send an e-mail to or give us a call and we would be more than happy to steer you in the right direction.
6.7L Cummins 2010-2018 Dodge Ram Diesel Performance Parts and Accessories In 2010, the Ram HD received a major facelift in the form of a completely new body style, featuring a larger back seat, new interior, and a ton of other cosmetic and creature comfort upgrades. For the most part, the powertrain remained relatively unchanged from the previous model year. But with GM and Ford hot on the heels of Ram, they made some finite adjustments to take the previous torque rating from 650 to 800 foot pounds of torque in 2012 in order to be at the top of the power podium. Then in 2013, Ram turned around and released the High Output 3500, sporting a brand new Aisin HD ASC69RC automatic transmission to be an available option in the pickup applications, hitting 385 horsepower and 850 foot pounds of torque.
The non-HO pickup models would still have the available options of a 68RFE automatic or G56 manual transmission. For cab and chassis models, Ram maintained the standard Aisin AS69RC automatic or G56.
We are glad to see Ram keeping the hand-shaker models available, when their rivals have abandoned manual transmissions altogether. Also in 2013, Ram finally released an upgraded suspension and steering configuration for 3500 models that would assist in eliminating the issues that had plagued them for years. Most people with a Ram have at least heard of “Death Wobble,” if not having experienced it themselves. There are many contributing factors to this occurrence, and to combat this, Ram made a complete design change.
One could say that Ram took a lot of notes from Ford by switching to a radius arm, as opposed to control arms, as well as a new steering configuration that separates the drag link and center link, very similar to a SuperDuty. The 2014 Ram 2500’s followed suit with this same treatment, but then threw an entirely new wrench into the mix by sending huge shockwaves into the heavy duty pickup market by being the first automaker to go with rear coil springs, as opposed to leaf springs, and later to have an available rear air ride option. Were all of these changes for the positive? Are there still areas for improvement that the aftermarket can fill? While these trucks are light years different than they were a decade ago, there are still ways to gain greater power and fuel economy.
