Galactic Civilizations II is one of the best 4X games I've played—and I've played two 4X games, the other being the equally excellent Civ IV. Mastering c++ book. But, regardless, it is magnificent, as Tom Francis' gripping War Diaries attest. Out of the blue, a giant new patch has appeared for the decade-old game, made with the help of the presumably-still-thriving community. A Zygerrian slaver. The Zygerrian people were organized into clans and classes. Mere brother ki dulhan movie download 720p. They had a noble class, many members of which, despite their high status, pursued a career in the military.

A year ago many of you may remember we said we were commiting to a year’s worth of free and significant updates to Galactic Civilizations even after release. Today we officially announced Galactic Civilizations 1.2 (it’s available on via Stardock Central -our electronic distribution network- as well as a stand alone download). The idea behind the free upgrades was to 1) Try to encourage long term shelf life and sales by keeping the game fresh and new with updates. And 2) To stem piracy by rewarding those who bought the game (GalCiv has no CD copy protection whatsoever). Someone who buys the game say in Germany could literally toss out their CD and just download the latest/greatest build right from us. Even years from now. According to our reports, the game’s shipped over 100,000 copies worldwide (~60k in North America and ~40k elsewhere).

We’ll probably do a sequel to it eventually (though right now we’re concentrating on a political strategy game – that we have to get out soon). I think a big reason the game has sold so well is because of the free updates. Here was a turn based game from a small publisher by an indie developer that is still on some store shelves a year later. Sure, its numbers are no where near an RTS or a FPS but neither were the costs to produce the game. I’m not an anti-copy protection zealot or anything, I just don’t think CD copy protection is a cure all for piracy.
