Does anybody know if I can get the nav firmware update from the dealer or would it come coded in the newer navigation DVD's.Just so we're all clear - a navigation DVD is the DVD map that you basically just slide into the Nav unit & leave it there. It has road & places info. A Nav firmware (CD) is used to update the Nav OS, and you put the OS CD into the Nav just to update the OS of the Nav, then take it out & put your Nav map back in. 2 completely different disks, for 2 completely different functions. Here's what the V32 Firmware CD looks like that I ordered directly from my local dealer. I performed this update last week and I've also included a few screen captures showing the software update progress on the head unit display.

On my MKIV unit the update procedure took about four (4) minutes to complete from start to finish. To me it was a real no-brainer to order the official CD and not try to mess with FTP files, ISO images, etc.

If you're comfortable downloading & using Nav OS CDs, just load a lower version of your current Nav OS, then re-load your current Nav OS CD.
